    M.F. tonsils causing lethargy and weight loss...

    POSTED ON BEHALF OF: Melissa Flores To make a long story short, please say a prayer for my son Micah. His tonsils are very big and he really struggles to breath and is often lethargic with weight loss since he hasn't ate well for three weeks.     I have learned today that there is some skepticism as to the genuineness of this prayer request. I did find a testimony regarding the improved health of the child and that's good enough for me. :) Praise God for His healing power. If the request was fabricated, than thank God no child really suffered. If the request was genuine, then thank God for His miracle. Either way... Praise God!!! :)

  • Zoe update 3/27/12 Hello Everyone; just returned home from Portland. The docs did not get back to Sonia about the results of the MRI until early evening. Sonia called me while I was on my way home and filled me in. MRI results - Blood clots. We learned that these are not the round ball or mass kind of clots, they are more of a kind of sludge that is lining the sides of two sections in her veins. One is a section of the vain in her upper arm, in a lesser vein, and the other is up near her shoulder. The one in the shoulder is the one they have been most worried about because it is nearest the heart. They are not terribly concerned that these clots will break off and go anywhere...there is always a possibility but not one they think is very high right now. They did not find any other clots and that is good news. I also am happy to hear these kinds of clots seem to be less serious, in the Doctors opinion, than some other kinds. They are hopeful that with continued blood thinners they should dissolve over time. If these clots are infected, however, there is a chance that they could omit particles of infected clot pieces to the lungs and heart. They believe the spots on her lung are clot particles that are now in her lungs. As bad as that sounds, they don't seem to be overly worried about that either. Again, they are hopeful that the blood thinners will help to dissolve them. They also said that the clots could have been in her arm and shoulder before she got a staph infection so, maybe the clot particles in the lungs are not infected. They seem to look the same as when they first detected them...they are seeing no additional irritation in them. Another reason they did the MRI was to determine if there was a clear, safe way to put in a central line. (To feed her thru and gives meds thru in her chest.) They don't want to get the central line too near the clot in her shoulder in case it is infected. The Doctors did think they saw an area they felt good about where a central line could go. They will talk more about that with each other tomorrow but the feeling today was that they would probably schedule surgery for the central line as soon as possible. The Central line. If they decide to put one in, Zoe needs to be off the blood thinners for at least 24 hours. Considering her clot situation, that is somewhat disconcerting. But she cannot have major surgery with her blood not clotting correctly. The reason they need the central line is because the NG tube that is putting a liquid form of nutrition into her stomach through her nose, is causing terrible stomached and bowl discomfort and further irritating her colon. She has to have nutrition...she has to have blood thinners…she can’t have infected clots…she can’t irritate her colon any further! Do you see how it is hard to proceed when everything is connected to something else? But…I think they are finally starting to sort it out and some decisions will be made soon. I also learned that this disease we call Crohns is probably 30 or more different diseases that we lump into two diseases. Crohns or Colitis. That is why not every treatment works for every Crohns patient and why Crohns victims can have very different symptoms. They just don’t know very much about the disease. So…I’m glad our heavenly Father knows EVERYTHING about Zoe’s problems and so, we trust Him with all our hearts. One of the heads of the GI department recommended that Sonia get a second opinion from a highly recommended doctor in Seattle. She is seriously considering this. It would need to be relatively soon. Zoe: She wants to eat. She begs to eat sometimes. She hates her three or so pokes a day. She hates how much the blood thinner shot stings. She begs to have them stopped. Her IV line failed today and they had to start another new one.,That is the third time and her little veins are tired and her hand is sore. She’s tired of being touched every few hours by scores of different nurses. Every few hours she struggles with falling into the pit of despair, believing she will never eat food again…never feel good again, that she’ll never stop getting shots or having terrible health problems. But then…we pray, sing, fight the devil for her and with her, we put updates on facebook, send out emails and we ask our friends to join us in prayer… and many, many, many of you commit to fasting and praying on her behalf… AND EVERY TIME, miraculously, that brave little girl bounces back, manages a smile and asks to go for another “walk” in her wheel chair. She likes to get out where the people are, she loves to sit in front of the big windows and look at the view, in these moments, she chooses to be present in the land of the living…to live. She wanted to go for another walk right before her MRI today and said with a grin, “Let’s blow this popsicle stand!” LOL! If you are wondering if you’re prayers are working, wonder no more…I watched them do battle for her every hour of the last two days I spent in the hospital…because of your prayers she gets back up after getting knocked down, she is able to smile a good portion of the day now…because of your prayers she is winning spiritual battles in her heart and…she is getting stronger, where it is most important to be strong! In her faith! Please don’t stop. Thank you.
